"Women in Communications"
On May 27th, FEW welcomes Sophia Hozumi, currently working for Nippon Boehringer Ingelheim Co., Ltd.
A quick browse of popular titles in any bookstore will tell you that although we may not use a map to get home to Venus, in the battle of the sexes, women are clearly on top of the communications game.
Sophia Hozumi, communications adviser at Nippon Boehringer Ingelheim, raises the question whether we, as the standard-bearers and master communicators of the universe are actually communicating effectively. Are women truly roaring, or is our collective voice really more of a loud, vibrato squeak?
Sophia, a recent transplant to the Kansai area, has practiced corporate communications in London, Tokyo, New York and Kawanishi. She holds degrees in international relations and comparative politics from the University of Denver and the University of Paris. She lives in Toyonaka with her husband and once dreamt of becoming an opera singer.
