Living in Japan I was drawn early on to the art of ikebana, (Japanese Flower Arranging). I found that through learning how to create ikebana arrangements I could also learn more about Japanese culture and the way of thinking of Japanese people, and about the way that Japanese people adore the seasonal changes and have a love for simple yet beautiful and practical aesthetics. My love for ikebana was enhanced more so, because I found a teacher who could explain everything in English and who also has a wonderful personality and special smile – Eiko Suzuki.
It is my pleasure to open up my world of ikebana to members of FEW Kansai. A special workshop in the basics of ikebana will be held on February 18th 2007.
I fully encourage FEW Kansai members who have always wanted to learn ikebana or just give it a try without feeling any pressure, to sign up for the workshop. I will be at the workshop as well to help out and make you feel at home.
More information: Please see the attached Download IkebanaFEW.doc on the background of Ikebana, details on the monthly classes held in Osaka, and the link to Eiko Suzuki’s website.
