President's Message - February 2007

Dear ladies,

We had a very inspiring first meeting of the year, with great attendance for our passionate guest speaker Juliet Carpenter. Thanks to everyone who answered the 2007 Membership Survey. We are planning to do this every year, so we can better understand your needs and suggestions. We are busy planning various events, workshops and guest speakers so there will always be something on the 2007 year program for everyone.

Please join our next monthly meeting February 22nd, where not only the inspiring Cathy Murata will speak, but you will also able to hear the survey results. As a preview of what we learned, almost everybody heard about FEW through a friend. I was thinking about this, and how it would be if every member committed to introduce one new member this year. We would have a great membership increase!

Sometimes we hear that people don’t become FEW members because they have other commitments on Thursday evenings, when we have our monthly meetings. Although our monthly meetings are an important basis for FEW, we want to oer a variety of other activities on other evenings and weekends this year and in the future, so we hope to meet the needs of every foreign woman who is interested in social networking, personal and professional development. Therefore we would like to ask any of you who have ideas for special or social events to let us know. If you like to go out for a dinner and discover new restaurants please sign up for the upcoming Gourmet Club on Monday, Feb 26th.

Lastly, we are very sad to announce that Evelyn Lopez has decided to resign from the FEW Board after 7 years of active participation. Evelyn contributed in so many ways, especially as our liaison for the Hilton, Administrator, and as Special Programs and event coordinator last year. She was able to organize great events and always brought in fantastic rae prizes. Evelyn, we will miss you, but are glad to still have your continued support as a member.

We are very happy to announce that Sara Revell will be our new Special Programs and Events Coordinator. Welcome!

Looking forward to seeing you all at the upcoming meeting, the Gourmet Club or the Ikebana workshop, and don’t forget to bring your friends!
