Hello everybody,
I hope you enjoyed your Golden Week and are back on track with your activities and goals for the upcoming (warm) months. We are at FEW. The membership directory is out, thanks to Heather Shirai for all of her time on this project. I hope you will all find it useful. So we started the spring very well, with a great Gourmet Club and very successful Spring Brunch thanks to Sara Revell.
Unfortunately, I had to miss these great events while I was back in my home country for 2 weeks to work. It was refreshing to be without the kids, focused on work, personal development and important relationships back home. It was also confusing to experience how my ‘home’ will never be like it was before I left and yet I will never be 100% part of society in Japan. It can be a challenge as everybody will probably experience in a different dimension, but I think it is something we all have in common.
In the airplane back I was thinking about this and the upcoming events for FEW and hope we offer you what you need here in Japan. The first event will be an interesting look at history and politics. For June we’ve organized a networking event where the focus is on you. The purpose is to share our experiences and knowledge. Please let us know if you have any suggestions and don’t forget to sign up for this fun event.
The last thing I would like to mention is that the FEW Board has worked very hard to create a new membership database, directory, a logo and look, name tags/membership cards, and created a program of various activities for you. I would like to thank everybody of the board for taking extra steps to make all this happen for our members.
We realize we have limited resources (especially time and sometimes expertise) and would like ask you if you could offer any support, even for a project or hands on work. We have been looking for a treasurer and someone with IT skills to update our website. Please inform us if you are interested or know someone, even if they aren’t a member – yet!
Looking forward to see you all at the monthly meeting, ball game, or at any other events here in Kansai.
Warm regards,
Karolien van den Brekel
