Japanese Women in Politics:

A Glimpse beyond the Gender Gap

Dr. Gill Steel

Dr. Susan Pavloska

Dr. Kimiko Osawa

We are fortunate this month to have as speakers three professional women conversant in a topic that we hear much about these days and that affects us all as women living in Japan: gender and politics. Dr. Gill, Dr. Pavloska, and Dr. Osawa, university professors in Japan, have researched this topic extensively and written chapters about it in the edited volume Beyond the Gender Gap in Japan, published in 2019. They will question stereotypes and offer new perspectives on women’s roles in Japan, challenging us to broaden our view of the gender situation here. To find out more about our distinguished speakers and their engaging topic, see here. Please come to enjoy a stimulating presentation and broaden your knowledge about this familiar subject.

Be sure to register by the deadline, and we look forward to seeing you there!
