Community Engagement in Rural Japan
In Ueyama, Okayama Prefecture, the "Everyone’s Grandchild Project" is successfully revitalizing the rural community by creating inter-generational connections and preserving cultural heritage. The project has successfully revitalized abandoned rice terraces, creating a thriving community of 80 elderly residents and 40 younger individuals. Amelia Ijiri will share her experience with the project, including how young residents are promoting sustainable living and enhancing biodiversity.
