Revitalizing the Countryside:
Indigo and Art
with
Sally Hancox
Have you thought about the effects of fast fashion on our environment? Ever wondered about traditional techniques and art that was used in Japan to make clothing? Join us in May as we hear from Sally Hancox. Sally, originally from the UK, now lives and works on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture. Sally, together with her husband, run AiAii, an indigo dyeing studio in Sumoto. We'll hear about her work and her career focusing on the last six years and her work with indigo. Listen to her story and experiences with therapeutic art, farming, and "shibori" tie-dyeing. Sally will share her unique experiences and tell us what it is like being a "regional revitalizer" in Awaji.
